Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Machine Shop Foreman to lead our manufacturing team in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment. In this role, you will oversee daily machining operations, coordinate machine setups, and ensure high-quality production standards are met. Duties Supervise and coordinate all machining activities, including CNC (Computer Numerical Control) and manual machining operations. Oversee machine setup, calibration, and operation of CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining tools to ensure optimal performance. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks and traditional blueprint reading skills. Program CNC machines utilizing G-code, M-code, and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming to produce complex parts with precision. Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measurement instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances. Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety protocols related to welding, grinding, machine operation, and handling of power tools. Train team members on machine operation, tooling setup, measurement techniques, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and proper use of manual machining equipment. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve processes using lean manufacturing principles and identify opportunities for efficiency gains. Manage inventory of tooling, fixtures, and machining supplies; coordinate maintenance schedules for machinery to minimize downtime. Lead troubleshooting efforts for machine malfunctions or quality issues; implement corrective actions promptly. Skills Extensive knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code; experience with Fanuc controls preferred. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and general blueprint reading skills for mechanical parts. Strong understanding of machining tools including lathes, mills, grinders, welders, hand tools, power tools, and tooling management. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and apply GD&T standards accurately. Experience with CNC setup and operation on machines like CNC lathe and CNC milling machines; familiarity with CNC quality inspection methods. Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement devices for quality control. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including metal machining, plastics injection molding, welding techniques, and assembly procedures. Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining safety standards; excellent communication skills for training staff on technical procedures. Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations during setup and inspection tasks. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency within the shop environment. Valid forklift certification is a plus for material handling within the shop area.
