Schedules, supervises, and inspects the work of a crew in the maintenance of airport facilities and grounds.
Essential Functions
Schedule and assign work including inspection, maintenance, and repair of runways, taxiways, airfield lighting, markings, grounds, and all related aviation equipment to conform to FAA standards;
Instruct and train maintenance workers in the proper use of tools, equipment, maintenance procedures and FAR Part 139 compliance issues;
Monitor runway conditions during inclement weather to determine actions to be accomplished to sustain airport operation;
Operate a variety of equipment such as a road grader, snow plow, frontend loader, snow blower, and de-ice spreader;
Supervise employees in the maintenance of the airfield lighting system;
Maintain general knowledge of electrical system operations and safety requirements;
Prepare and monitor airfield maintenance annual budget;
Evaluate the performance of all employees in the section
Prepare specifications and bids, monitor contractor activities;
Inspect work in progress, and upon completion
Keep records of time and materials used on the job;
Coordinate directly with other section heads;
Interface with airport tenants and visitors;
Assist and participate in the work of the crew as required;
Perform related duties as directed. Qualifications
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three years of experience in airfield maintenance plus one year supervisor experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following: Valid Current Driver's License

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Materials, methods, and equipment used in airfield maintenance.
Ability to:
Schedule, assign, and inspect the work of others;
Read blueprints;
Estimate time and materials for maintenance projects;
Communicate effectively with others;
Supervise and participate in maintenance of airfield lighting system with proper training and in accordance with safety procedures.
Physical
Requirements:
Maintain the ability to:
Frequently stand, walk, bend, and kneel during the shift;
Occasionally climb ladders, stairs, and inclined surfaces;
Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
Occasionally push and pull objects;
Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
Place arms above. at.
or below shoulder height:
Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
