Job Duties:
Oversees and supervises electrical, general maintenance, and construction projects. Schedules, assigns, prioritizes, inspects, and participates in maintenance and construction work. Coordinates assignments with other supervisors to ensure efficient use of staff, materials, and equipment. Provides technical expertise on electrical systems, equipment, and repairs. Reviews project estimates for labor hours, materials, supplies, and other resources. Approves and initiates requisitions for necessary materials and supplies. Maintains accurate repair records and prepares technical reports. Trains and supervises inmate maintenance and construction workers. Ensures compliance with electrical codes, safety rules, regulations, and standards. Maintains the security and accountability of assigned inmates. Performs other duties as assigned.
You'd be a GOOD fit if:
You have a high school diploma or GED. You have six years of paid electrician experience in maintenance, construction, or industrial operations. You understand electrical construction and maintenance methods, procedures, and standards. You understand electrical codes, rules, regulations, and installation requirements. You can read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications. You are skilled in using electrical testing equipment. You can plan projects, prioritize assignments, and meet established deadlines. You can maintain accurate records, files, and technical reports. You can maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure.
You'd be a GREAT fit if:
You completed an electrical trade school, technical program, or apprenticeship. You have experience leading electrical, maintenance, or construction crews. You have experience training and supervising inmate workers. You can review technical data, diagnose electrical problems, and recommend solutions. You understand TDCJ policies, procedures, organizational structure, and security requirements. You communicate instructions clearly and coordinate effectively with staff, departments, agencies, officials, and the public. You are safety-focused, organized, dependable, and comfortable making independent decisions. Relevant electrical trade or technical school courses may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Completion of an electrical apprenticeship may also substitute for experience.
Education or apprenticeship training may replace a maximum of two years of the required experience.
