PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous operations
- Maintains equipment at optimum efficiency using accepted procedures. Repairs and maintains equipment in skilled trade areas. Makes minor repairs and major overhaul or rebuild procedures.
- Develop, implement and perform preventative maintenance on machines, tools, equipment.
- Repairs equipment in and outside of skilled trade area as assigned.
- Participates in all emergency programs and situations. Documents all work performed. Opens and closes work orders in a timely manner.
- Makes independent decisions on minor repairs and recommendations on major repairs or projects. Initiates preventive maintenance procedures for new equipment and determines frequency of inspection.
- Assesses the scope of major repairs, daily activities and construction for impact on patient care. Maintains a complete understanding of and ensures adherence to all principles of Safety and Risk Management programs and policies.
- Attends all staff meetings on a routine basis to review progress, discuss problems, and any changes in policy and procedures.
Maintains age specific safety precautions, including: Pediatric - no small or sharp objects that may injure pediatric patients or visitors will be left out. Tool carts will not be left unattended. Engineering closets will remain locked at all times. Maintain adequate lighting for good visibility. Keep hallways and pathways clear of debris, equipment and tools.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Must be a high school graduate with at least 2 years' experience in building maintenance is required
This is a semi-skilled position requiring over two years of technical training to acquire the knowledge and skills which could be obtained through vocational education, past work experience or on the job training.
Some experience in air conditions, heating, ventilating, electrical, and plumbing, boiler and chiller operations, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics preferred.
Hospital experience required.
