Full Job Description Overview:

Summary:
The Senior Healthcare Architect & Medical Facilities Planner provides architectural, planning, and technical expertise supporting military healthcare, medical academic, and research facilities. This role supports facility planning, design review, healthcare programming, and healthcare infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
Lead healthcare planning and architectural review efforts. Support facility utilization studies, programming efforts, and healthcare space planning initiatives. Review architectural and engineering submissions for compliance with healthcare design standards. Support stakeholder engagement, design charrettes, and user group meetings. Evaluate facility functionality, operational workflows, and future-state healthcare requirements. Support design reviews, activation planning, commissioning, and turnover activities.
Qualifications:
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
Strong organizational and oral communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed Architect. Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related discipline. 10+ years of healthcare architecture experience. 5+ years supporting federal, military, VA, NAVFAC, or USACE healthcare projects. Experience with healthcare design standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Experience preparing and reviewing healthcare facility design documentation. Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 1/NACI investigation and Common Access Card (CAC).
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Secret clearance or prior DoD credentialing experience preferred. NCARB certification. Master's degree in Architecture, Healthcare Planning, or related field. Medical academic facility planning experience. Medical research facility experience. Experience with UFC, NFPA, FGI, Joint Commission, ADA, ABA, and healthcare accreditation requirements. Experience supporting healthcare campus master planning initiatives. Experience with healthcare facility activation and transition programs. Working knowledge of SEPS and DoD Space and Equipment Planning Criteria. Prior experience supporting Defense Health Agency (DHA), DHA Facilities Enterprise (DHA-FE), NAVFAC Medical Facilities Program Office (MFPO), USACE Medical MILCON programs, Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare facilities, military hospital replacement programs, healthcare activation/IO&T efforts, SEPS planning, or federal healthcare construction programs.
