Western State Hospital 103 Valley Center Drive, Staunton, VA 24401. Who We Are Western State Hospital, part of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), has been a leader in psychiatric treatment since 1828. WSH is a 302-bed Joint Commission/CMS-accredited psychiatric facility located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley. Just 30 minutes from vibrant university towns, our hospital serves adults with serious mental health needs and is nationally recognized for our Psychosocial Rehabilitation "Learning" programs. WSH provides a modern clinical setting and a therapeutic environment for patients, supported by highly qualified staff. Position Overview Western State Hospital is seeking a full-time Trades Tech IV Assistant Director to provide highly advanced supervision, training, and expert analyses of maintenance and construction systems; perform expert work and supervision which involves overseeing maintenance and construction in the installation, care, and repair of state facilities and equipment; oversee, supervise, inspect, schedules, assign, prioritize, and participate in general maintenance, electrical, HVAC, construction, and plumbing work to include preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance and repairs; coordinate work assignments with other supervisors to ensure efficient use of resources; and provide technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate Recognize and report corrective maintenance (CM) to the work order control center and to perform corrective maintenance in accordance with the work order control system•TMS Supervise or assist contractor or inspectors in performing equipment installations, repairs or inspections Supervise and assist with snow and ice removal, disasters, disaster exercises or special events as directed by the supervisor Prepare reports or estimates of work hours, materials and resources Encourage vendors to obtain SWaM certification Utilize TMS to create and maintain maintenance repair parts inventory Purchase parts as needed to maintain inventory This position is eligible for: paid time off; family/personal time; community service time; and sick time retirement with cash match life, vision, and dental insurance life insurance Minimum Qualifications Extensive experience in building and grounds work Valid Operator's License Master Tradesman License Experience in computer, purchasing procedures, and inventory control programs Additional Considerations High school graduate or equivalent Trade or some college Supervisory training and/or experience Refrigerant Recovery Certification Bilingual Veteran or veteran spouse Special Instructions You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
