Job Description

Anticipated Associate Openings (2) for the 2026-27 school year.

Terms of Employment:

All student scheduled days for the 2026-27 school year, minimum $17.00/hour.

Benefits:

The Van Meter Community School District offers a comprehensive benefits package, including IPERS. Employees with proof of existing health insurance can choose to receive a monthly cash stipend in lieu of insurance. Employees receive 15 days of sick leave and 2 personal days each year.

  • Thursday 7:45 AM
  • 3:45 PM Fridays 7:45 AM
  • 1:45 PM
Performance Responsibilities:

Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.

Commits to ongoing professional growth to support the unique needs of individual students.

Assists with accurate data collection.

Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.

Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.

Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.

Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.

Assists with large group and small group activities.

Assists with the supervision of the students during emergency drills, assemblies, breaks, and field trips.

Guides independent work, enrichment work, and remedial work set up as assigned by the teacher.

Maximizes use of time throughout the day.

Implements behavior support plan.

Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

Demonstrates collaborative skills in a team environment.

Demonstrates effective communication skills.

Supports generalization of skills in an integrated setting.

Exhibits regular, prompt, and reliable attendance.

Assists the teacher.

Applicants must have a high school diploma (or equivalent). You must complete CPR/First Aid/Mandatory Reporter Child Abuse and remain current.
