Description Description Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform duties associated with and including meter reading. These job duties include, but are not limited to; readings, service orders, and replacing and installing water meters for billing purposes. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Functions Reads water meters on assigned routes for billing of water usage and enters updates on hand-held meter reading devices. Attaches electronic pads to meter reading devices for increased accuracy of the reading. Rereads and rechecks any inaccurate readings. Delivers late notices to residential customers. Reconnect new or stopped meters into the water line system. Changes and replaces broken or scratched lenses on water meters. Tests meters for accuracy and registration. Determines the location of water leaks. Replaces meter boxes, schedules meter repairs, and cleans work sites. Utilizes, maintains and repairs handheld and visual meter readers. Respond to inquiries and complaints from customers about water leaks and inaccurate billings. Consistently perform all job duties at an acceptable level. Performs other duties as assigned. Attendance; regular and timely attendance during assigned work hours. After-hours and weekend work are required as necessary. Deadlines; ability to set and meet appropriate deadlines. Timely follow-up and follow-through with staff and others. Effectively multi-task and work under time pressure and deadlines. Communications & Record Keeping; ability to read, comprehend and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, in English. Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, volunteers, council, and others. Ability to maintain and retain all records and follow the Citys record retention policy. Customer Service; must be professional, respectful, helpful, and polite to staff, volunteers, council members, and others at all times. All work must be performed in a timely and satisfactory manner. Financial; ensure all expenditures are within budget. Utilize the Citys Procurement Card (P-Card) in an ethical and responsible manner. Submit receipts monthly. Ensure all financial functions, recordkeeping, and reporting are performed timely and accurately and that records are properly created and maintained. Policies & Procedures; perform duties in accordance with City policies, procedures, standards, and comply with local, state, and federal law. Safety; follow safety policies and rules. Stay Current; keep up with trends and changes. Confidential Information; safeguard confidential information and disclose it only to those in need to know. Qualifications High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, and physical and criminal background check. Must possess a valid State of Texas Drivers License, reliable transportation, and ability to drive; maintain and provide proof of liability insurance. Have and maintain a professional, inviting, and friendly demeanor. Must have a working cell phone and the ability to respond to after-hours calls. Supplemental Information

Physical Ability:
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstations. Ability to drive to and from meetings and events.
Sensory Requirements:
Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination and oral communication ability.
Environmental Factors:
Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
