Job Description

Field Technician Three Lakes Water Association Snohomish, WA Job Details Part-time From $22 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Outdoor work High school diploma or GED Driver's License Driving Power tools Construction Hand tools Full Job Description Position Summary The Field Technician supports the day-to-day physical operations of the Three Lakes Water Association, a Group A community water system serving the Snohomish, Washington area. This is a hands-on, outdoor-focused position responsible for routine maintenance, meter service, utility locates, infrastructure upkeep, and emergency field response. Because Three Lakes is a small utility, this role requires flexibility — the Field Technician must be willing to assist with whatever operational needs arise, from digging out a buried meter box to marking underground lines to exercising distribution system valves. This position is available as part-time and does not require waterworks operator certification. Field tasks involving regulated operations (e.g., water quality decisions, system pressure changes, disinfection) are performed under the direction of the General Manager or a certified operator in responsible charge. This position does not supervise other employees. The standard schedule is based on operational needs. Part-time schedules will be established with the General Manager. Either classification may require occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday availability to assist with water system emergencies or time-sensitive repairs. Field & Technical Skills Ability to read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and service records to locate infrastructure in the field. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light construction equipment associated with water system maintenance. Ability to safely operate grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and similar equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to identify and describe equipment deficiencies to supervisory staff. Ability to apply marking paint and utility color-coding standards correctly for underground locates. Basic math skills sufficient for recording meter readings, calculating consumption, and measuring pipe fittings. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, wind, heat, and cold. Ability to perform sustained physical labor including digging, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching overhead, and working in confined or below-grade meter and valve boxes. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly using proper body mechanics. Ability to operate valve operating handles and wrenches requiring sustained torque on valves up to 10-inch ductile iron main lines. Visual acuity sufficient to read meter registers, pipe markings, paint color-codes, and field maps. Ability to speak and hear in order to communicate clearly in field conditions. Ability to drive safely on Association business, including unpaved, rural, and easement roads. Minimum Qualifications & Required Certifications At Time of Hire Must be 18 years of age or older. High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable for Association vehicle insurance coverage. A clean driving record is required; this is a condition of employment and will be subject to periodic review. Must be bondable and able to pass a background check. Must be willing to read and acknowledge the Three Lakes Water Association Employee Handbook prior to beginning work.
