Job Description
Essential Functions Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Disassemble machinery and equipment when there is a problem Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components. This includes belts, bearings, chains, hydraulics, boilers, pneumatic air cylinders, and valves. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Fabricates/repairs parts by using machine shop instrumentation, Welding and cutting equipment. Including pipe fitting. Basic electrical skills Clean and lubricate equipment or machinery. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Employee will be working indoors and outdoors; no climate control. Employee will be exposed to increased temperatures due to working near and performing maintenance on hot asphalt vessels/piping, steam piping, and hot oil piping. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds Specific physical demands include: Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds Ascend and descend ladders; Use manlifts, forklifts and scissor lifts to perform elevated work. Ascend and descend stairs Extended amount of time standing in one position. Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls. Move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place. Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects. Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects. React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet. Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath. Keep or regain the body's balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
