Shop Helper - San Diego, CA - Immediately Hiring Job Description Join our specialized team dedicated to underwater ship husbandry, including hull cleaning, inspection, and maintenance. We seek a Shop Helper to support our operations with equipment preparation, maintenance, and organizational tasks. Responsibilities Assist with the maintenance and organization of the shop area. Support technicians and divers with the preparation and maintenance of equipment. Perform basic repairs and cleaning of tools and equipment. Help with inventory management, including receiving and stocking supplies. Ensure the shop is clean, safe, and well-organized. Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment. Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times. Essential Skills Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in marine services. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Good communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn and take on new tasks. Mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical systems, including engines and turbines. Technical proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment for maintenance and repair. Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently. Preventive maintenance knowledge to ensure equipment longevity and reliability. Safety awareness, especially in a marine environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior Navy experience is preferred, particularly for roles like Engineman, Machinist's Mate, or Gas Turbine Systems Technician. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Hands-on experience with tools and machinery, including welding, machining, and fabrication. Why Work Here? Work Environment The majority of work takes place at our client's shop in San Diego, CA, with occasional tasks at naval bases for equipment pickup or drop-off. The shift runs from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime and occasional weekend work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
