Full Job Description SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic III independently performs advanced troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment installations on production-related machinery in a safe and timely manner. This role serves as a senior-level mechanic, providing technical guidance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and partnering closely with production and engineering teams. The Maintenance Mechanic III leads by example in safety, GMP compliance, and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues on production equipment Perform and lead advanced preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and uptime Maintain, adjust, and optimize production equipment to improve efficiency and reduce downtime Support and lead installation, commissioning, and validation of new or upgraded equipment Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to resolve issues and improve systems Ensure accurate and timely completion of maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory usage Partner closely with production to quickly resolve issues and minimize production interruptions Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventative solutions Provide guidance, training, and support to Mechanic I and II team members Communicate effectively with equipment manufacturers and external vendors for troubleshooting and parts support Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including equipment upgrades and process optimization Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and cGMP-compliant work environment Ensures 100% compliance with all Food Safety guidelines, including GMP, HACCP, sanitation, and safety procedures. Support and assist with maintaining 5S of the workspace areas Support engineering test runs, trials, and process improvements as needed Follow direction from the Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Supervisor or Shift Supervisor while also working independently to prioritize tasks Fill in as a back up Maintenance Lead as needed
REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Education:
Must pass XXXX Certification before advancing to MMIII Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma 4-6+ years of hands-on experience in plant packaging machinery maintenance within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food or beverage packaging operations. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, PLCs, and pneumatics Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Experience with root cause analysis and equipment reliability improvements Ability to research, apply, and communicate technical information effectively Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks Willingness to work flexible hours and rotating shifts as needed Strong understanding of GMPs, food safety, and safety procedures

Office Hours/Location:
This position is based in our Sebastopol location. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 - 5:00 pm. Hours may be flexible based on need and preference - three shift operation with occasional Saturdays. Remote candidates will not be considered for this role. This position is based in Sebastopol, CA.
