Our construction division partners directly with GCs and developers on new builds, facility expansions, and tenant improvements, executing to spec, on time and on budget. The Role We're hiring a Lead HVAC Installation Technician — a senior, trusted position for someone who can run a full-scope mechanical install independently: equipment, piping, controls, and ductwork together. This role calls for a well-rounded mechanical tradesperson who has worked commercial and industrial jobsites and is ready to be a hands on leader, not just execute one piece of the install. You'll report directly to our Senior Construction Manager and be trusted to make sound field decisions on commercial and industrial jobsites with minimal oversight — planning layout, reading a full drawing set, coordinating with other trades, and holding the installation crew to a high standard of quality and code compliance from start to finish. Job Duties and Responsibilities Planning, layout, and code compliance for HVAC, mechanical, and piping installations from start to finish. Read and work directly from mechanical, piping, electrical, and controls drawings; blueprints, retrofit layouts, schematics, and code specs for commercial mechanical and piping equipment, ductwork, and distribution piping. Install and set commercial HVAC equipment: rooftop units, make-up air units, furnaces, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, condensers, exhaust and energy recovery equipment, unit heaters, mini-splits, VAV boxes, zoning components, dampers, actuators, pumps, and zone valves. Run supply, return, and outside air ductwork. Run hot water, chilled water, and condensate drain piping. Calculate proper ductwork and piping sizing per code requirements. Bring solid working knowledge of ductwork and piping theory — refrigeration, hot water, chilled water, and drain systems. Lead installation, repair, and replacement work across refrigeration, hot/chilled water, and drain systems and piping circuits — equipment, piping types and materials, fittings, valves, and test equipment — on both commercial and light residential jobs. Braze using an oxygen/acetylene torch (certification or demonstrated skill required). Confirm every installation meets spec, and correct ductwork, piping, connections, or terminations as needed. Troubleshoot equipment, piping, and fittings for leaks, restrictions, and airflow/fluid flow issues. Perform preventative maintenance and system testing across mechanical and plumbing distribution systems. Apply strong knowledge of mechanical/plumbing code, jobsite safety policy, and Lakeside's quality control standards. Coordinate with other trades on multi-trade jobsites, and work effectively solo or as part of a crew. Keep the job on schedule to hit productivity and completion targets. What We're Looking For 4-6 years of commercial/industrial HVAC installation experience — new construction, equipment changeouts, and system retrofits on rooftop, boiler/chiller, and central plant equipment.

Construction jobsite experience:

reading full drawing sets, coordinating with GCs and other trades, working to a project schedule. Proven ability to work independently and be trusted to run a commercial/industrial job site with minimal oversight. Strong attention to detail — this role owns the quality of the finished install, not just the labor. EPA refrigerant certification, Type II or Universal. Valid Colorado driver's license with a clean record — no major violations, suspensions, or DUIs in the last 5 years. Solid grasp of PPE and jobsite safety practices. Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Service Titan and standard field devices (smartphone/tablet). Clear, professional communication with customers, crew, and supervisors. Able to work in varied conditions: mechanical rooms, rooftops, crawlspaces, attics, confined spaces, and from ladders or a man lift with no fear of heights. High school diploma or GED. Must pass a background check, drug screening, and a physical capability assessment as a condition of employment.
