Mid‑Iowa Cooperative and Mid‑Iowa Milling serve our communities through seventeen grain facilities and seven feed mill locations, offering diverse career opportunities across our operations. Positions include grain settlement coordinators, grain originators, crop insurance and brokerage support, regional managers overseeing grain operations, accounting, and IT, as well as feed mill operators, assistants, delivery drivers, and CDL truck drivers. The Maintenance & Millwright position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and industrial equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. This role works closely with production personnel to minimize downtime, maximize equipment reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.
- Install, alien, level, and commission industrial machinery and equipment.
- Replace bearings, gears, belts, chains, motors, pumps, valves, and other mechanical components.
- Repair and maintain welding, fabrication, and structural equipment as needed.
- Conduct emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Communicate equipment issues and repair status with supervisors and production teams.
- Assist in developing maintenance procedures and equipment records.
Required Qualifications:
- High school degree, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving skills, and customer service.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must have access to and regularly use an active email account.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Works in both a professional office environment and an AG (autogenous) mill or plant setting, requiring regular presence in production areas; may require occasional extended hours to meet deadlines.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and frequent use of standard office equipment.
- May involve light physical activity such as standing, walking, and occasionally lifting office supplies (typically up to 70 lbs.).
- Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures in mill areas; required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
- Must be able to move safely throughout production areas, including stairs and uneven surfaces, while managing a fast-paced workload with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
