  • Monday-Friday Job Description This position is for an Electro-Mechanical Technician in a metal manufacturing company where you will work primarily on manual equipment, with some automated equipment in certain areas of the facility.
Your role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on notching machines, sharpeners, welders, and other equipment. You will also service, maintain, and upgrade existing production equipment and facilities, as well as build new machinery. Your work will focus more on electrical skills, including wiring motors, working with PLCs, and understanding control cabinet layouts. Responsibilities + Identify and repair mechanical issues in industrial production line equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, filters, grinders, punch presses, and pneumatic components with minimal downtime and supervision. + Conduct electrical tasks including changing 1 HP motors, working with 24V DC controlled motors, auto switches, hooking up panels, and drilling holes for conduit and wiring equipment. + Troubleshoot and perform electrical repairs for machine control circuits including PLCs, AC & DC motors, sensors, and cameras. + Perform facility support equipment and building maintenance, including painting, floor care, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC service, and maintaining the physical building structure. + Utilize CMMS and ensure work orders are complete and corrective maintenance issues are logged. + Communicate with production personnel, maintenance technicians, and engineering staff to identify problems and coordinate corrective measures. + Suggest and implement improved designs to existing equipment components and systems. + Perform periodic preventative maintenance on production equipment to ensure safe, proper, and efficient function. + Make replacement and prototype parts and fixtures by machining and fabrication. + Service, maintain, and assemble punch press dies and components. + Analyze, install, and maintain water, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, making repairs and replacing worn or defective parts such as gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and piping. + Follow all safety policies and procedures and maintain a safe working environment, offering suggestions to better protect all employees. Essential Skills + 3 years of relevant experience in an industrial setting. + Mechanical knowledge and skills, including the use of common hand tools. + Ability to troubleshoot machine control circuits, including switches, relays, fuses, indicators, and understanding drawings, diagrams, and schematics. + Capability to diagnose motor failures and properly connect and install dual-voltage motors. + Proficiency in using electrical test instrumentation such as multimeters and amp meters. + Effective communication skills. + Understanding of basic math including fractions and decimals, and measurement conversions. + Strong motivation to get things done, solve problems, and learn. + Effective use of measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, thread gages, etc. + Comfortable with a daily work balance involving 30% mechanical and 70% electrical tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale Heights, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00
  • $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
