Job Description
Overview Hello! We are Derby City Sign a well known sign company that has been open and running since 1976!! We are looking to train our next future serviceman/journeyman. As a tech trainee you will be assigned to a tech that is a serviceman or journeyman and assist them with sign maintenance/installation jobs and learn along the way. Here we are all about training our employees and compensating them for their knowledge as the years go by! We are a union based company so after 90 days you are expected to join the union and follow our union contract terms. This is fulltime position hours are 8:00am-4:00pm. Sometimes you will be out on the field later which will give you the opportunity for overtime! . Rare but possible you will have to be required to stay out of town on projects we have further away; hotel and food will be paid for by our company. We are an equal opportunity employer! Duties Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of different types of signage. Open to learning different skills and equipment operation in the field Ability to work under different types of weather/climates in the outdoor environment Knowledge of how to drive a forklift or openness to learn! Be open to learn how crane trucks operate and learn how to fix small issues with the trucks in shop. Be willing to be boomed up several feet up into the air in crane trucks to work on signage. We work from tall heights sometimes. (if you are scared of heights this may not be for you) Be willing to stay in shop and work on small projects or truck maintenance/cleaning on bad weather days. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong analysis skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently. Good communication skills in English for effective teamwork and customer service interactions. Willingness to learn about sign electrical systems, HVAC systems, sign installation/removal, and safety protocols in a crane operation setting Prior experience working with industrial equipment like scissor lifts/forklifts or in field service roles is a plus but not mandatory. Willingness to stay out of town for jobs (rare but happens) CDL may be required in the future especially if you are looking to move up in our company. Tools are required after 90 days. (We will provide you with a list) Drug Testing may be required IF necessary. Pay/Benefits Starting pay is $15.82/hr. If you have some experience in this field starting pay could be negotiated! Here overtime is calculated per day, if you work more than 8 hours in 1 day that is automatically given to you as OT. After 90 days (and joining the union) you will qualify for the following benefits: Paid Holidays Health Insurance (paid by us and we pay 50% of all dependents) Dental/Vision Insurance A raise based on union contract and performance evaluation Annual Raises based on union contract/position Paid vacations after a year (based on longevity with company, for new hires it is 6 days/year)
