Jensen Drilling has been drilling across the US from our home in Eugene for decades, and we're now part of the GSI family. We're looking for a friendly, self-motivated, hands-on Geo/Civil Drill Rig Tech. You will work closely with a small, established shop crew, setting up rigs for future work, performing small repairs, completing refurbishment, and ensuring that the rigs are in good working order. You'll work on-site with access to multiple repair/fabrication shops (hydraulic repair, CNC, etc.). Large yard for prepping upcoming jobs and receiving completed work. What You'll Do Operate, monitor, and maintain drilling rigs and supporting tooling on projects and in the yard Build and assemble lead strings; set up breakout clamps; prep casing and related drill tooling for field work Inspect, identify, and verify drill threads and tooling types used in the drilling trade Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and project plans to ensure correct setup and procedures Troubleshoot mechanical issues on rigs and tooling; perform basic repairs and part replacements as qualified Conduct routine preventive maintenance; maintain accurate field and shop logs (hours, progress, wear) Coordinate with geotechnical staff and field teams to support drilling operations, sampling, and installation Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; enforce PPE and safety policies Assist with rig moves, equipment transport, and yard prep for upcoming jobs Share knowledge with the shop team and help drive process improvements What You'll Bring (Must-Have) 2+ years in field drilling, rig operation, or a related mechanical trades role Strong mechanical aptitude and deep understanding of drilling systems Proven ability to build lead strings, set up breakout clamps, prep casing, and work with drill tooling Experience identifying multiple drill thread types and sizes Ability to read manuals, schematics, and basic project drawings Physical ability for outdoor, yard-based work Valid driver's license; willingness to travel to project sites as needed Safety-minded with basic on-site PPE knowledge Nice-to-Have (Bonus) Experience in landslide mitigation or geotechnical drilling
Certifications:
OSHA 10/30, H2S
Alive, First Aid/CPR, or equivalent (not required) Familiarity with hydraulic systems, welding/fabrication, or CNC shop environments Formal trade school or college coursework in mechanical, civil, or geotechnical fields
Work Conditions & Schedule Schedule:
40 hours per week minimum; overtime as required by project timelines
Environment:
On-site fieldwork and yard work; access to repair/fabrication shops
Travel:
