Job Title:
Install Technician - Commercial Kitchen Equipment Job Description This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial kitchen equipment in a variety of new construction and renovation environments. You will work with appliances such as ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and ventilation systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently while delivering excellent service to customers throughout a multi-state territory. Responsibilities Install new commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and ventilation systems, in restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other commercial facilities. Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and installation plans to ensure accurate placement and setup of equipment. Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools such as tape measures to perform precise installations and adjustments. Perform regular maintenance checks on installed equipment to ensure all systems operate safely and efficiently. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment, including leaks, faulty wiring, worn-out parts, and mechanical problems. Repair or replace defective components and ensure equipment is restored to proper working condition. Ensure all installations, maintenance activities, and repairs comply with applicable safety standards, codes, and regulations. Document all installations, maintenance tasks, and repairs accurately, maintaining detailed records for future reference. Coordinate installation details with project partners and site personnel to streamline the construction and installation process. Communicate clearly with customers to understand their needs, explain work performed, and provide guidance on proper equipment use and maintenance. Assist with demolition and removal of old equipment as needed to prepare sites for new installations. Work effectively as part of a construction and installation team, contributing to quality, timely, and cost-effective project delivery. Travel within the assigned territory, typically from New York City to Washington, DC, to complete 2-3 day installation projects. Essential Skills Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools such as tape measures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude and mechanical skills for equipment installation and repair. Understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems relevant to commercial kitchen equipment. Experience with construction, carpentry, framing, and general labor in new construction and renovation environments. Ability to install and assemble commercial kitchen equipment accurately and safely. Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment issues. Customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly with clients and project partners. Ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for long periods, and work in confined spaces. Willingness and ability to travel within the territory and work 2-3 day jobs as needed. Availability to work a Monday-Friday schedule starting at 7:00 a.m., with some weekend work and potential overtime. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED (minimum educational requirement). Post-secondary education in fields such as HVAC, electrical engineering, or culinary arts is preferred. Completion of a vocational or technical training program focused on appliance installation, including classroom and hands-on training. Apprenticeship experience under experienced technicians, gaining practical on-the-job skills. Relevant certifications such as those from the Commercial Food Equipment Service Association (CFESA). Relevant certifications such as North American Technician Excellence (NATE) for refrigeration and HVAC skills. Commitment to safety, integrity, accountability, quality, excellence, professionalism, and customer service. Work Environment You will work primarily in commercial kitchen environments within new construction and renovation projects, including facilities such as universities, restaurants, convenience stores, corporate sites, and stadiums. Projects typically span a territory from New York City to Washington, DC, with jobs often lasting 2-3 days. The role involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools, as well as regular lifting, standing, and working in confined spaces. The typical work week is Monday through Friday with a 7:00 a.m. start time, and some weekend work and overtime may be required to meet project schedules. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety practices and standards while working on active construction sites and operational commercial kitchens. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Prospect Park, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
