The Opportunity To support our continued growth, VMG is seeking an experienced VRF Piping Mechanic to join our field team. This position is responsible for installing Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) piping systems on commercial mechanical construction projects. The VRF Piping Mechanic will fabricate and install refrigerant piping, complete high-quality brazed connections, and support system testing and commissioning. The ideal candidate has strong copper-piping and brazing skills, hands-on VRF installation experience, and the ability to complete work safely and according to manufacturer and project specifications. What You'll Do VRF Piping Installation Install VRF refrigerant piping according to approved plans and manufacturer specifications Install condensate piping, insulation, hangers, supports, and related components Measure, cut, bend, fabricate, and assemble copper refrigerant piping Coordinate piping connections to indoor and outdoor VRF equipment Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and project specifications Communicate material needs, installation conflicts, and field concerns promptly Brazing, TestingCommissioning Perform brazing and soldering using approved procedures Complete pressure testing, evacuation support, and leak detection Inspect piping systems for proper installation and secure connections Assist HVAC technicians with system testing, commissioning, and startup Troubleshoot and repair VRF piping systems as needed Maintain accurate daily reports and work documentation SafetyField Coordination Coordinate work with project managers, HVAC technicians, electricians, general contractors, and other trades Follow VMG safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite procedures Operate tools and equipment safely Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas Protect installed materials, equipment, and completed work from damage Work efficiently with field teams to meet project schedules What We're Looking For Minimum 3 years of HVAC piping-installation experience Minimum 1 year of hands-on VRF system-installation experience Experience installing copper refrigerant piping on commercial projects Strong brazing, soldering, and copper-pipe fabrication skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings Familiarity with pressure testing and leak-detection procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a field crew Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to travel to active project sites throughout the DMV region Why Join VMG?
