Job Description
Position Overview The Journeyman Technician is responsible for advanced diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of production and manufacturing equipment. This role operates with a high degree of independence and technical expertise, ensuring equipment performance, safety, and reliability. Responsibilities Perform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on production and manufacturing equipment, including complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Diagnose and resolve equipment failures independently, minimizing downtime and production impact. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical documentation. Lead repair efforts and provide technical guidance to Shop Support Technicians. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to plan maintenance and equipment improvements. Document detailed repair actions, root causes, and corrective measures. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, lockout/tagout requirements, and company standards. Journeyman-level experience or equivalent in industrial or manufacturing maintenance. Proven troubleshooting and repair expertise across multiple equipment systems. Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions. Experience mentoring or training less experienced staff preferred. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position requires regular work in industrial, shop, and outdoor environments. Employees may be exposed to harsh weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and noise. Work may involve uneven terrain, heavy equipment, and physically demanding tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and working around moving machinery. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
