Rainier Veneer

Millwright

Job Description

Work Schedule:
Tuesday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Day shift days and hours are subject to change.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Millwright to join our maintenance team at our softwood veneer manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical expertise and hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing high-speed production equipment in a wood products environment.
Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment used in veneer production, including conveyors, presses, dryers, lathes, and stackers. Perform both scheduled and emergency maintenance to reduce downtime and support continuous plant operations. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently in a high-speed manufacturing setting. Follow and enforce all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure the safety of personnel during equipment maintenance or repair. Align and calibrate machinery for optimal performance and quality. Accurately interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals. Maintain detailed maintenance logs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff, production crews, and supervisors. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Requirements:
Strict adherence to LOTO protocols is mandatory. Millwrights are responsible for properly locking out and tagging equipment before performing maintenance or servicing work. A thorough understanding of energy isolation and control methods is essential to protect yourself and your coworkers. Commitment to a "safety first" mindset is non-negotiable—LOTO is a critical part of our safety culture and compliance.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 year experience in the manufacturing industry. Previous experience in veneer, plywood, or panelboard manufacturing is a strong asset. Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and fabrication. Proven ability to work safely, follow procedures, and identify potential hazards. Excellent troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Able to work independently and in a team-based, fast-paced environment. Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to urgent maintenance needs as required.
Work Environment:
The environment can be loud, dusty, hot, or cold depending on seasonal conditions. We are fast-paced and team-driven, where dedication, reliability, and strong collaboration are essential to success.
The Company:
Rainier Veneer is a softwood veneer plant, founded in 1992. We are one of the largest softwood veneer manufacturing companies on the west coast. In 2008, we expanded our operations by creating Rainier Fiber to produce premium wood fiber mulch from veneer byproducts for hydro-seeding and erosion control.
