Job Description

PSM Coordinator organizes and maintains the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, equipment, and personnel. The PSM Coordinator ensures compliance with
EPA/OSHA
regulations.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews system capabilities or processes prior to implementation. Organizes and provides PSM mandated training to all applicable employees and contractors. Answers questions and provides site specific documents when requested from
OSHA/EPA
inspectors. Provide day to day support with the PSM program. Assesses and assists with safety operations such as Management of Change (MOCs), Pre-StartUp Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA). Evaluates all refrigeration action plans for ammonia-related projects to ensure compliance with the PSM program. Organizes, manages, and provides leadership for all 14 Elements of PSM by reading and reviewing mechanical and electrical drawings, procedures and ammonia-related programs and policies. In the event of any PSM audit activity, PSM Coordinators serve as the primary respondent. They also actively participate in all refrigeration team activities and programs and work to improve their skills by staying abreast of current technologies. Manages Refrigeration/PSM training programs. Schedules refrigeration employees for Refrigeration/PSM training programs. Attends LEPC (local emergency planning committee) meetings. Assists with safety operations by conducting routine safety assessments in plant as scheduled, coordinates schedules and conducts
HAZMAT 24
hour and 8 hour recert Technician Training, Respiratory Protection Awareness and qualified training, Permit Required Confined Space awareness, authorized entrant/attendant and rescue training, Welding Hot Work awareness and permit authorized training for permit supervisors, welders and fire watch. Participates as a member of the team: In ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization. Simmons operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Physical Activities:
Be able to efficiently work in a plant environment. Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility. Light to moderate physical effort required. Must be able to be medically qualified to wear required respiratory and Level A Chemical Protective Clothing. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use water resistant/slip resistant footwear, gloves, apron, hearing protection, respiratory protection, chemical protective clothing, hair net(s) and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Travel:
To and from training when needed. Possible overnight stays and travel in a company vehicle.
Technical Experience:
4 years of refrigeration mechanic experience. Knowledge of safety and safety equipment. Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration, equipment and familiar with the maintenance of this equipment. Ability to read and understand blueprints (P&ID's). Ability to train others and have leadership qualities.
Industry Experience:
Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plan (RMP). Basic computer skills. Ability to create new and manipulate existing documents in word or excel.
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED with a good command of the English language, both written and spoken. Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Education:
