The Refrigeration Maintenance Technician troubleshoots and maintains the ammonia refrigeration systems daily. The technician logs time and materials into a computerized maintenance management system daily in the form of work orders and fills out daily logs, noting hours and any abnormalities. The technician communicates daily, all pertinent information regarding system operation and maintenance to departmental management and maintenance teams. Duties Housekeeping and cleanup of refrigeration machine rooms, refrigeration maintenance areas, and all project areas on a daily basis. Read and understand operation and maintenance manuals, plans, product specs, and schematics for systems being overseen. Follow SOP's, daily work schedules, and duty cycles for all repairs and maintenance for refrigeration systems. Assist outside mechanical and refrigeration contractors conducting service, repair and new contract work. Assist the building and equipment maintenance teams when needed. Duties, at times, include assisting in general building repairs, troubleshooting, and general maintenance activities. Skills 2+ years of experience in Refrigeration/Ammonia/Electrical.
Education:
Refrigeration/Electrical Trade School Certification or Equivalent, RETA - IR I-IV, Basic Electricity I-II, CARO, CIRO or any combination of experience, education, and training . Willing to obtain RETA CIRO or CARO certification in the future (Compensation available upon completion). Have experience with APR's and SCBA's, willing to train in the use of them regularly. Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Willing and able to tolerate a range of temperatures. PPE will be supplied for cold and hot environments. Be able to lift 40-60 pounds to shoulder height. Be able to walk and stand on cement floor for the shift duration. Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions. Basic math skills and computer knowledge. Ability to read and comprehend product spec sheets, assess equipment and demonstrate basic mechanical knowledge. Ability to work well with and without direct supervision. Ability to follow USDA regulations, plant sanitation standards and procedures, training provided. Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, LOTO, training provided. Be able to climb stairs and ladders; able to conduct work at heights, PPE supplied. Willing and able to work any assigned shift. Weekends and overtime available. Experience working with Frick screw compressors. Be able to pass a respiratory fit test for medical clearance annually.
