This vital role ensures that all refrigeration equipment operates efficiently, reliably, and safely, supporting our commitment to quality and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with refrigeration systems, and a proactive approach to maintenance and troubleshooting. As a Reefer Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our cold chain logistics, ensuring products remain fresh from start to finish. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on refrigerated containers, trailers, and refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose and repair refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration and HVAC/R equipment, utilizing schematics and technical manuals. Conduct electrical testing using tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults within refrigeration circuits and control systems. Troubleshoot mechanical issues related to air conditioning, plumbing, welding, and equipment repair to minimize downtime. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs for all repairs performed. Collaborate with drivers such as drivers to coordinate repairs and ensure timely return of refrigerated units to service. Follow safety protocols during all maintenance activities, including welding and handling refrigerants like ammonia. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic with a focus on refrigeration systems, HVAC design, or property maintenance. Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in construction-related repairs or appliance repair is highly desirable. Familiarity with schematics, electrical testing tools (such as ohmmeters), and HVAC/R systems including ammonia refrigeration is essential. Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately for troubleshooting complex refrigeration issues. Experience in field service operations involving equipment repair, boiler maintenance, welding, or plumbing is advantageous. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating drivers preferred. Knowledge of safety standards related to refrigerant handling and equipment maintenance is required.
