This position ensures the equipment, and the facilities are in proper working order to meet production needs. This position requires the ability to multi-task and work effectively both independently and in a team environment. This position will require the Production Equipment & Refrigeration Technician to provide weekend (Friday-Sunday) on-call service to the facility, alternating every 4-5 weeks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Machine Maintenance/ Repair:
50% of position responsibility Diagnose and repair equipment including but not limited to; fill machines, labelers, cappers, traying machines, dry heat ovens, turntables, blister machines, blenders, dust collectors, freeze dryers, walk-in coolers, ultra-low temperature freezers, sterilizers, fermenters, bioreactors, tanks, air handler units, boilers, pumps and air compressors Initiate and complete preventive maintenance requests for equipment Initiate and complete work orders on equipment Maintain buildings including but not limited to; roofs, doors, floors, and steam/air/water lines
Equipment Operation:
35% of position responsibility Operate water system equipment; this includes carbon filter, water softener, RO units, distillation unit, tanks, pumps, level and temperature controls Operate central plant equipment to include boilers, chillers, circulation pumps, oil-free air compressors, air dryers, cooling towers, HVAC units, exhaust fans, building heat systems and building cooling systems Operate refrigeration systems; this may include walk-in freezers, chest freezers, drive-in coolers, air conditioning systems, and humidity control systems Operate building automation system (Trane Tracer Synchrony) Conduct daily rounds of refrigeration equipment and systems Operate maintenance department document management system (Mainsaver)
Maintenance Project Management:
10% of position responsibility Install new equipment Modify or update existing equipment Remove obsolete equipment Order parts, supplies and services for projects Other duties assigned: 5% of position responsibility
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Minimum :
High school diploma or equivalent. 3 years industrial mechanic experience. Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Universal Refrigeration certification within the 1st year of employment.
Preferred :
Associate degree or technical diploma in one of the following: electrical, plumbing, mechanical, industrial maintenance.
