Industrial Refrigeration Technician Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Refrigeration Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, experience with large-scale cooling systems, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, inspect, and maintain industrial refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems Diagnose and repair system issues in ammonia and/or Freon-based refrigeration systems Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA) Maintain accurate service records and documentation Respond to emergency service calls and minimize downtime Collaborate with maintenance teams, engineers, and facility managers
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred) 3+ years of experience in industrial refrigeration or HVAC systems Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems (preferred in industrial settings) Familiarity with electrical systems, PLCs, and control panels Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams EPA Section 608 Certification (required for refrigerant handling) RETA certification (e.g., CARO/CIRO) is a plus
Skills & Competencies:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Ability to work independently and in a team environment Good communication and documentation skills Commitment to workplace safety
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs) Comfortable working in cold environments and at heights Ability to stand, kneel, and work in confined spaces
Work Environment:
Industrial facilities such as food processing plants, cold storage warehouses, and manufacturing sites May involve shift work, on-call duties, and overtime
