Job Description
Position Summary Pfannenberg is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Service Technician with experience in refrigeration systems, industrial controls, and thermal management equipment. The Service Technician will provide installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for enclosure cooling systems, chillers, heat exchangers, and related control systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and be comfortable working independently at internal Service area and customer sites. Essential Responsibilities Service and Technical Support Install, start up, commission, and troubleshoot Pfannenberg cooling systems, including: Enclosure air conditioners Chillers Air-to-air heat exchangers Air-to-water heat exchangers Filter fan systems Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service activities on both Pfannenberg and competitor equipment. Diagnose and repair refrigeration, electrical, and control system failures. Conduct field service visits and provide emergency response support as required. Complete equipment performance evaluations and recommend corrective actions. Refrigeration Duties Troubleshoot refrigeration circuits, compressors, expansion devices, pressure controls, condensers, and evaporators. Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak detection in accordance with EPA regulations. Interpret refrigeration schematics and piping diagrams. Maintain required refrigerant handling certifications. Controls and Electrical Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot cooling systems, thermostats, sensors, relays, and control circuits. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Verify proper system operation through testing and commissioning procedures. Configure and support electronic controllers and monitoring systems. Customer Support Train customer maintenance personnel on equipment operation and preventive maintenance. Provide recommendations to improve system reliability, energy efficiency, and uptime. Document service activities and generate professional service reports. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and represent Pfannenberg professionally in the field. Qualifications Education HVAC/R, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred. Equivalent technical training and field experience will be considered. Experience 3+ years of industrial HVAC/R, refrigeration, or thermal management service experience preferred. Experience with industrial controls and electrical troubleshooting. Experience servicing chillers, enclosure air conditioners, process cooling equipment, or industrial HVAC systems. Technical Skills Understanding of refrigeration cycles and refrigeration components. Ability to use electrical test equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, and megohm meters. Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration schematics. Knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and temperature control systems. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and service reporting software. Certifications EPA 608 Certification required. OSHA safety training is preferred. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work in industrial environments. Ability to travel up to 25-30% as required. Ability to work safely around electrical and refrigeration equipment. Pay:
$21.00 - $29.00 per hour
