THE POSITION
The Department of Corrections is looking for a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion who is ready to lead and inspire. In this position, you will train inmates in real-world refrigeration skills that support facility operations. Your teaching will help students gain experience that prepares them for success. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides classroom and hands-on instruction in the refrigeration mechanic trade while ensuring safe and efficient work practices. As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
Trade Instruction:
Teach refrigeration practices, methods, installation, repair, and maintenance to inmates
Work Crew Oversight:
Direct inmate crews, assign daily tasks, and inspect completed work
Classroom Management:
Maintain order, track progress, and document attendance and training records
Tool Control:
Issue, inventory, and search all tools and materials used during training and work assignments
Material Planning:
Identify needed supplies and submit purchase requests for tools and materials Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement.
