Responsibilities Diagnose and repair refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration units, HVAC/R systems, and mechanical equipment using schematics, electrical diagnostics, and troubleshooting tools such as ohmmeters. Install, maintain, and upgrade HVAC systems, building automation systems, boilers, air conditioning units, and related mechanical systems in compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical components to prevent downtime. Utilize hand tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical repair tools to execute repairs efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and blueprints to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions. Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems within refrigeration units or HVAC installations. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, repairs needed, and maintenance recommendations. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician with construction experience or mechanical systems repair background. Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles—including ammonia refrigeration—and HVAC system repair and installation. Familiarity with schematics, building automation systems, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, welding, and appliance repair. Mechanical knowledge of HVAC/R equipment including boilers, air conditioning units, pumps, valves, and related machinery. Ability to operate hand tools, ohmmeters, welding equipment, and other mechanical repair tools safely and effectively. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus. EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications in HVAC or electrical work are advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently. Strong customer service orientation with clear communication skills in diverse environments.
