Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest which is part of the nation's leading provider of healthcare services, HCA Healthcare. Job Summary and Qualifications With minimal supervision, monitors, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical systems contained within the Central Energy Plant such as steam and comfort boilers, generators, chillers, electrical breakers, medical gas, water filtration systems, etc. to ensure all are maintained in proper working condition. Performs daily inspection and adjustment of fittings such as valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, pumps, energy management systems, tube systems, etc.
- Applies the engineering practices throughout the NCMC campus., including repairs and maintenance of all utility systems
- Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans assigned tasks as needed
- Performs and assess equipment problems and initiates repairs
- Evaluates repair procedures and makes necessary recommendations to the facility supervisor
- Communicates the status of the repairs to appropriate Supervisor, and Director as needed
- Completes all related work assignments in a timely manner
- Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency
- Prioritizes and plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plan and completing duties
- Provides pertinent shift report to the relieving shift operator and other maintenance staff as needed
- Assures appropriate follow-up for all incomplete repairs and notifies the effected department of the status of the repairs and the anticipated date of parts arrival and the anticipated completion date of the project
- Considers all available options and makes appropriate decisions
- Assists in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies, and conservation of supplies
- Assists in the evaluation damaged equipment during disasters and communicates with others on engineering team
- Communicates pertinent information regarding recovery and assist with planning needs. Reports the status to the appropriate Supervisor, Director, or administrative staff
- Assist with the coordination of emergency services as required by Supervisor, or Director
- Responds to web request and calls according to department standards
- Updates work order program as needed per job duties
- Evaluates materials for cost effectiveness and reviews findings with Director and/or Manager
- Evaluates workmanship and products used for in-house special projects, outside general contractors and all others pertaining to discipline
- Participates and response to all Hospital emergencies, including, but not limited to fire, bomb threads, disaster codes, security codes, and all other emergencies as required the department supervisor and director
- Ensure all assigned task are completed according to policy and procedure, JACHO, NFPA 99, Life Safety Code 101, TDH licensing standards, and all other NFPA Codes as needed
