Key Responsibilities:
Operate, monitor, and maintain industrial ammonia refrigeration systems across multiple temperature zones. Perform routine inspections of refrigeration equipment, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, vessels, pumps, valves, and associated piping. Troubleshoot system issues including mechanical failures, electrical/control issues, and operational alarms. Support maintenance and repair work on Freon systems as needed. Work with various ammonia system designs, including flooded systems, liquid recirculation systems, and direct expansion (DX) systems. Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and compliance records for refrigeration systems. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure safe and efficient operations. Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements when working with ammonia systems.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of ammonia refrigeration experience and familiarity with Freon systems required.
Required certifications:
06A Electrical License, Universal Refrigerant Handler's Card, and RETA Operator I or CARO (must be active). Strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, flow rates, and controls. Ability to perform physical work up to 50 lbs and work across multiple temperature environments. Experience working with various ammonia system configurations (flooded, liquid recirculation, DX). Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check (including employment and education verification), and credit screen. Willingness to work extended schedules and weekends during the fresh pack season (typically July through early November).
