Position Overview:
The Utility Technician is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of plant Utility system's equipment including, but not limited to, high pressure boilers, steam system, ammonia refrigeration, sewer and water systems, HVAC, compressed air systems, cooling towers, pumps and pumping systems. Maintain accurate records of daily checks and equipment operating conditions.
What You'll Do:
Maintains the facility's utility systems by adjusting the systems and equipment to ensure that the company is complying with the State and local standards. Keep logs of daily operating conditions, working within a self-directed work team to document daily logs and records, monitoring chemical dosages for cooling towers, wastewater and boiler systems. Troubleshoot and repair problems with boilers, ammonia refrigeration, cooling towers, air compressors, sewer and water systems and other mechanical and electrical controls. Participate in emergency response procedures in the event of ammonia safety related incidences. Document as needed for compliance with OSHA and PSM program. Perform other duties as required, including occasional operating, testing, maintenance and repair tasks. May be called upon to assist others within the facilities. Ensure compliance with corporate/plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company's Good Manufacturing Practices. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
What You'll Need:
3 years industrial maintenance experience, ideally working with water systems, wastewater, boilers and/or HVAC Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to analyze a wide variety of equipment to troubleshoot problems and assess maintenance or utility needs Ability to read work orders, technical and repair manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics Independent thinking is required to apply the proper course of action Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation and ability to multitask High School or equivalent diploma Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
