Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and experienced Optometric Technician or Optical Technician/Optician to join our team in a dynamic, dual-role capacity. This position involves floating between our exam and optical departments, providing critical support to both areas as needed. The ideal candidate is adaptable, quick to learn clinic workflows, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. A strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and making a meaningful difference in people's lives is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct patient workups, including blood pressure, IOP, visual acuity, and color vision assessments. Perform specialized diagnostic tests (OCT, Visual Fields, Digital Photography, ERG, VEP). Assist providers with patient care and provide patient education. Coordinate patient care plans with administrative staff and manager patient flow. Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their medical, aesthetic, and lifestyle needs. Accurately measure and adjust eyewear, ensuring a perfect fit. Interpret optical prescriptions written by optometrists and assist providers with patient education. Operate the lab edger to cut and fit lenses according to precise specifications. Verify prescription lenses prior to dispensing. Perform routine checks and maintenance on optical equipment; manage inventory, including ordering and maintaining optical supplies.Qualifications For Optometric Technicians:
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and internet use. Experience in optometry, customer service, hospitality, or a medical office is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset. CPO Certified is a plus, but we will provide comprehensive training for the right candidate._ CPO certification is required within the first year of employment. _For Optical Technicians:
Strong computer, customer service, and communication skills. Prior experience in an optical setting is required. Detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.For Opticians:
High school diploma or equivalent; further education is a plus. Must possess an active American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification. Proven experience as an optician in a busy clinic. Proficiency in all areas of optometric technology and eyewear sales.
