We are seeking a motivated and growth-oriented person to join our team as an Equipment Service Technician for our Arizona Shop. This position is a non- exempt, full-time role, and reports to the Regional Operations Manager. Overnight and out-state travel is required (expected to be up to 3-7 days per month, but up to 50% of the month may be required during busy seasons). The Equipment Service Technician is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of traffic safety equipment. This role focuses on learning the basics of equipment servicing, including understanding mechanical systems, using hand tools, and supporting senior technicians. The technician contributes to the smooth operation of the shop and yard by performing basic tasks under supervision. Some of the key responsibilities include:
Repairing Traffic Safety Equipment:
Assist in identifying and troubleshooting basic mechanical or operational issues under the guidance of senior technicians.
Delivering Traffic Safety Equipment:
Support the delivery of equipment to job sites, including loading and unloading under supervision.
General Organization and Maintenance of Shop/Yard:
Help maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop and yard, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
Shipping/Receiving Parts and Equipment:
Assist with inspecting incoming shipments and processing orders for parts and equipment. Interacting with
Customers:
Provide basic customer support by addressing simple inquiries and relaying information to senior staff. Required Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Licenses/Certificates:
Valid driver's license and ability to qualify for a DOT medical card to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
Technology/Equipment:
Computer skills and proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office products Physical and Mental Demands The Equipment Service Technician is predominantly a shop-based role. The primary physical and mental demands include: Performs extensive standing, driving, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, squatting, crawling, and climbing. Moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Positions self to maintain equipment in the shop and on a roadside, including on equipment that is overhead and near the ground. Inspects equipment to detect maintenance issues. Moves safely over uneven terrain. Specific vision abilities required by this job include normal vision Works in hot and cold environments and on concrete floors. All work environments will have moderate noise exposure. Travel conditions may involve being in an aircraft or automobile for extended periods. Wears personal protective equipment including, but not limited to hearing protection, eye protection, steel-toed shoes and gloves most of the day. Qualifies for a DOT medical card as a requirement of driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Able to read and speak English well enough to perform certain tasks such as converse with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, make legible entries on reports and records, and communicate with inspectors and other law enforcement officials (per the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's requirements of drivers of commercial motor vehicles). Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a service technician or in a similar role within the equipment rental industry. Proven track record of diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in rental equipment. Experience with routine maintenance and servicing of a variety of equipment types.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
