Job Title:
Service Technician Job Description The Service Technician receives dispatched service calls and responds promptly within the expected time of arrival. This role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on refrigeration and related equipment, while also maintaining parts, tools, and vehicles. The position requires a strong mechanical background, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a commitment to clear communication and excellent customer service. Responsibilities Receive dispatched service calls and respond promptly based on the assigned estimated time of arrival. Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration and related equipment to ensure reliable operation. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues on equipment, including various machines and roller grills. Complete repairs efficiently and safely, ensuring equipment is returned to proper working condition. Maintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, and equipment, and ensure vehicles and tools remain in good working order. Document all work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, and parts used, and properly close out all service activities upon completion. Ensure that point-of-sale (POS) materials are current, clean, and properly displayed at customer locations. Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co-workers to explain issues, solutions, and any follow-up needs. Travel to various customer sites such as gas stations, movie theaters, retail stores, and other locations to service equipment. Participate in a 3-4 week training period, including ride-alongs with another Service Technician to learn procedures and routes. In some locations, handle machine movement and relocation, including loading, unloading, and positioning equipment as needed. Drive a company-provided work truck safely and in compliance with all traffic and safety regulations. Follow all safety procedures, including safe lifting techniques and proper use of ladders when required. Manage time effectively to complete daily assignments and service calls within scheduled hours. Perform various other related duties as assigned to support service operations. Essential Skills Strong mechanical experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Experience with refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues. Ability to perform assembly, maintenance, and repair on service equipment. Clear oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members. Customer relations skills, including strong interpersonal and team relationship abilities. Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple service calls and tasks. Self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to stay on task and work with minimal to no supervision. Valid driver's license Ability to lift 55 pounds or more on a regular basis, with occasional lifting in excess of 70 pounds. Ability to safely use ladders as required by specific tasks. Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including warehouse and field service settings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Graduate of a technical or vocational school is a plus. Type I, Type II, or higher EPA certification to service refrigeration equipment is a plus. Experience as a Service Technician, particularly in refrigeration or snack/beverage equipment, is beneficial. Familiarity with servicing machines, roller grills, or similar equipment is an advantage. Clean driving record suitable for operating a company-provided vehicle. Ability to document work accurately and close out service tickets using company processes and tools. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
