reviews Full-time Job Title Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician (BMET) Location Rocky Mountain Veterans Affairs Medical Center Aurora, CO Description The Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician (BMET) is responsible for performing advanced maintenance, calibration, and repair on a wide array of biomedical equipment. This position requires extensive technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and train junior staff. The technician will also manage projects related to equipment installation and planning, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standard Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct advanced maintenance, calibration, and repairs on complex biomedical equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions, using advanced technical knowledge Ensure all biomedical equipment meets industry standards and safety regulations. Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance, calibration, and repair actions. Mentor and train junior technicians and clinical staff on best practices for equipment management. Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors for technical support, equipment updates, and recalls. Participate in the evaluation, planning, and implementation of new biomedical equipment. Manage projects related to the installation and upgrading of biomedical equipment. Maintain a clean, safe work environment, and adhere to all safety protocols. Travel Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance, with at least 1 year in a clinical setting. Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the United States. Strong familiarity with biomedical equipment concepts, practices, and procedures. Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with biomedical equipment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proven leadership and mentoring abilities. Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance. Graduate of the Department of Defense (DoD) Medical Equipment Repairers Course, preferred. Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification through the International Certification Commission or an associate degree (AAS) in Medical Equipment Technology, preferred. Salary To be determined This is an SCA position. Work Environment This role operates in a healthcare environment, where medical equipment plays a critical role in patient care. The technician will work closely with clinical staff and other technicians, providing advanced technical expertise in equipment management. Physical Demands This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs., push/pull equipment, and perform tasks such as kneeling, standing, bending, and reaching while conducting maintenance and repairs.
