Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Veterans Preference Utilities Service Technician (Water-Sewer Lines) Position is
Full-Time Wage:
$19 per hour Description of Duties Advanced skilled work in installing, maintaining, and repairing water meters, water lines and mains, servicing sewer lines, trouble shooting leaks and/or system malfunctions, and other manual labor type tasks. Essential Job Functions Installs, repairs, maintains, removes, and replaces water meters. Flushes, installs, relocated and repairs fire hydrants. Installs, repairs, locates and exercises valves. Installs, or disconnects water/sewer service, taps, meter sets, etc... Repairs and installs water main lines. Replaces meter boxes, reads meters. Performs tasks found in the Maintenance Worker classification. May be required to perform on-call assignments when necessary. (These essential job functions are not to be construed as a compete statement of all duties performed. Employees will be required to perform other job-related marginal duties as required.) Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years experience in water and maintenance field Valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License for local, work-related travel preferred Certification as a Code Enforcement Professional or F.A.C.E. Certification within one (1) year of employment required. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of the functions and servicing requirements of mechanical equipment, machinery, and electrical panels. Knowledge of and ability to use electrical test equipment (i.e. volt/amp meters, megars.) Ability to inspect machinery and operational equipment Ability to work during off time when called for emergencies. Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions. Ability to detect equipment malfunctions and effect necessary repairs or corrections Ability to work from sketches, maps blueprints. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Skill in demonstrating mechanical abilities and basic mathematical skill. Employer conducts motor vehicle records check, drug screen and physical examination.
EMPLOYEE NOTIFICATION

RESIDENCY
City policy requires that city employees are to reside in Citrus County east and south of County Road 491 within 30 (30) days after completion of their training period. Reference City Personnel Manual Section 4:09.
