Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic Public Works team as a Public Works Technician, where you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving our community's infrastructure. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of heavy equipment and construction tools, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality public works projects. You will be involved in a broad range of tasks that keep our city running smoothly and beautifully. Responsibilities Assist with paving projects, road repairs, and construction site activities to ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects Conduct utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation or construction work begins Maintain and inspect equipment regularly to ensure safety and optimal performance Support the setup and cleanup of construction sites while adhering to safety standards and regulations Collaborate with team members on large-scale projects involving heavy machinery operation and construction activities Document work performed, including daily logs, safety reports, and project updates to ensure transparency and accountability Inspect, repair and maintain City of Lake Park properties and equipment Participate in Emergency Operations as assigned by the City of Lake Park General support for City of Lake Park community events Supervise Community Service workers Cut grass, trim weeds, and edge as necessary to maintain properties, right-of-way and medians. Pest and weed control for city properties, right-of-way, and medians. Connect and disconnect public utilities in compliance with Work Order procedures. Water sample testing. Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy equipment or similar machinery in a construction or public works setting Knowledge of utility locating procedures and safety protocols for construction sites Strong understanding of maintenance processes including paving and site preparation Prior experience working on public works or municipal infrastructure projects is highly preferred Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL certification is a plus but not required initially Excellent teamwork skills combined with the ability to follow detailed instructions and safety guidelines Join us as a Public Works Technician and be part of a dedicated team committed to building safer, stronger communities through skilled craftsmanship and proactive maintenance. Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
