Service Technician - Vermeer Great Plains 100% Employee-Owned | Heavy Equipment Service At Vermeer Great Plains, we're not just a dealership — we're a 100% employee-owned company. With five locations across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Western Missouri, we provide sales, rentals, parts, and service for industries like tree care, landscaping, wood waste, recycling, underground construction, and mining. Train. Motivate. Retain. We're looking for a Service Technician who's skilled, safety-focused, and ready to grow. If you've got the mechanical know-how and a passion for solving problems, this is a chance to build your career with ownership. What You'll Do Service, repair, assemble, and recondition Vermeer equipment. Diagnose problems and identify the right repairs and parts. Perform inspections and maintain detailed service records. Keep shop tools and equipment in excellent condition. Communicate clearly with the Service Manager and customers on repair status. Stay current on training through Vermeer and VGP service schools. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment. Follow all safety standards (DOT, OSHA, and company policies).
What It Takes Education/Experience:
Degree in Diesel Mechanics/Technology (or similar) + 1 year experience in heavy or industrial equipment; OR equivalent combination of training/experience.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, diagnostics, and calibration.
Tools:
Must own and maintain personal tools and toolbox.
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift 50+ lbs, work in varied weather conditions, and handle noisy environments.
Credentials:
Valid driver's license (must maintain); background check and drug test required.
Mindset:
Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, safe work habits, and customer-first attitude. Bilingual a plus.
