SUMMARY:
Manager of projects under the purview of the Maintenance Division of Public Works. Develops or assists with developing project scope, schedule, plans, contract documents, cost estimates, etc. Monitors progress, verifies conformance to specifications, manages pay applications, and coordinates with other Divisions, Departments, or relevant stakeholders
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers and coordinates projects related to curb and sidewalk replacement. Leads in the design for curb and sidewalk replacement projects. Coordinates with City Staff, design engineers, utility company representatives, adjacent municipalities with partial ownership of the work, and contractors to optimize the use of available funding for curb and sidewalk replacement. Develops plans, contract documents, project timelines, and cost estimates for maintenance and repair projects. Surveys and field measures, when necessary, for preliminary design and quantity measurement. Leads the annual curb and sidewalk maintenance programs. Identifies failed or failing curb and sidewalk that require repair or replacement. Strategizes and prioritizes areas for curb and sidewalk replacement while balancing annual project budgets and coordinating with others within the City. Maintains separate lists of prioritized candidate locations for Maintenance Improvement Program (MIP) projects, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) neighborhoods, and on-demand task orders Serves as the project manager for curb and sidewalk repair and replacement projects. Facilitates project pre-construction and regular progress status meetings. It is the main point of contact during construction. Answers questions posed by contractors, adjacent or partnering municipalities, and residents. Oversees the work performed by contractors to verify adherence with construction plans, standard details, and specifications. Assists contractors, subcontractors, utility companies, and residents with questions or concerns regarding curb and sidewalk maintenance and construction. Tracks construction progress to ensure contractors schedules, project milestones, and completion dates are met. Provides progress updates to the Division Manager and, when applicable, the respective program manager or designer. Measures and calculates quantities for payment, prepares and processes project pay estimates, and prepares change order requests for changes in project scope. Monitors construction costs to stay within program budget(s). May act as construction inspector if an inspector is not available. Assists in identifying solutions when conflicts arise during construction. Advises the Division Manager and, when applicable, the respective program manager or designer of unforeseen circumstances that may delay or affect city improvements. Attends coordination meetings with City staff and design engineers during the development of the Maintenance Improvement Program (MIP) plan and during specific project design. Investigates complaints, requests, or questions from the public regarding drainage, pavement, curbs, sidewalks, and sidewalk ramps. Makes recommendations and/or develops plans for actions and responds in person or in writing. Obtains and maintains a Class B CDL with necessary endorsements and participates in snow removal

Associate's degree in the following field(s) of study: project management or construction science, required Bachelor's degree in the following field(s) of study: civil engineering or related field, preferred Training/coursework in drafting and surveying, preferred Valid Driver's license required Valid Driver's license

Five years project/plan development (drafting, estimating, etc.) experience, required Two years construction inspection or project management experience, preferred
