Job Description

Electrical Service Technician Job Summary The Electrical Service Technician Level I is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing various electrical systems and components in a marine and industrial environment. This position requires expertise in working with electrical circuits, motors, generators, and automation systems while ensuring compliance with safety and operational policies. The technician will also provide training to junior technicians, manage assigned projects, and be available for on-call duties. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical circuits, including three-phase motors, generators, switchboards, and motor starters. Work with steering systems, alarm/automation systems, xenon fixtures, and grounding systems. Utilize diagnostic tools such as multi-meters, amp meters, and meggers for electrical testing. Terminate various types of electrical equipment and read electrical schematics and prints. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pumps and other electrical components. Supervise and train Level 2-3 technicians. Manage projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient completion. Be available for on-call duties during a seven-day period as scheduled. Occasionally travel to different company locations as required. Adhere to all safety and operational policies and procedures. Work in a 24/7 operational environment, including overtime as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs over extended distances. Capable of working in all weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and gangways up to 25 feet in height. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and work overhead for extended periods. Must be able to operate vehicles in a safe and professional manner. Must be eligible to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no DWI convictions). Must pass a criminal background check. Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing. Previous experience in electrical service work, preferably in marine or industrial environments. Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with colleagues, management, and customers. Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Basic mechanical skills are required.
