POSITION SUMMARY
The Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, servicing, and repairing equipment and systems to ensure reliable and safe operation. This role performs troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, testing, and documentation while working closely with engineers, operators, and other team members to minimize downtime and support production goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect, analyze, and troubleshoot equipment, machinery, or systems to diagnose issues and determine corrective actions. Perform installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment or system components according to specifications and manuals. Carry out preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and parts replacement to prevent breakdowns. Repair or replace faulty mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic components using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. Run tests, calibrate, and verify equipment performance; interpret results and make recommendations for improvements. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and repair manuals to perform work accurately. Document maintenance activities, test results, and repairs in logs or computerized maintenance systems. Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects to enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency. Ensure work complies with safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and applicable regulations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and operators regarding equipment status, issues, and recommended actions. Support product design group testing requirements. Monitor test progress to assure on-time completion of test requests. Design test fixtures and develop test procedures as required. Provide effective and timely communication on work in progress. Prepare reports for documentation of test results. Complete test and documentation in a timely and error-free manner. Load data and reports into Solomon database. Set up and conduct special tests as required. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Assure compliance to policies, procedures, and instructions. Provide on-site service and customer support, including responding to service calls and preparing service reports.
REQUIREMENT QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED; technical certificate or associate's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or related technology preferred. Proven experience in equipment maintenance, repair, or technical support in an industrial, manufacturing, or field environment. Ability to use, repair, and maintain machines, hand tools, and diagnostic instruments safely and effectively. Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to read and follow technical manuals, work instructions, and safety procedures. Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
2-5 years of experience as a maintenance, field, equipment, or service technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Experience with CMMS or other maintenance/asset management systems. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and on‑call rotations as required.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
(%): >50% travel to meet customers and suppliers with day travel to the various manufacturing facilities as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to use and understand Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, Microsoft (email). This is additional to the computer skill requirements as stated in the requirement qualifications.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to read and understand engineering prints/drawings. Good level of analytical skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work on a team. Ability to guide the efforts of support personnel. Good teambuilding skills.
