We are currently seeking a Watch Buyer / Timepiece Expert to join our team and help us continue to deliver the highest standards of quality and expertise.
Position Summary:
The Watch Buyer / Timepiece Expert will be responsible for the overall management and quality control of our luxury watch inventory. This role requires a deep knowledge of watch brands, trends, and market values, as well as the ability to authenticate, purchase, and manage repairs for our timepieces. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horology and the technical skills needed to support various aspects of watch management across all Spicer Greene locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control:
Oversee the quality control (QC) of all watches, both incoming and outgoing, ensuring they meet our high standards.
Service Support:
Assist with decisions regarding where to send watches for service and repairs, managing the process to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions.
Authentication & Purchasing:
Authenticate and purchase luxury watches, ensuring quality and authenticity while negotiating favorable terms.
Support Management:
Provide support to management across all locations, including direct assistance to the Asheville sales staff.
Training Development:
Create and deliver watch training programs for sales staff and managers, covering topics such as timing, opening a back, identifying movements, battery replacements, straps, adjustments, and more.
In-House Repairs:
Conduct quick in-house repairs at our head office, including battery replacements and strap adjustments.
Advanced Repairs:
Handle repairs that do not require parts accounts, if capable, to maintain and extend the life of our inventory.
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of luxury watch brands, models, and market values. Previous experience in watch authentication, quality control, and buying. Technical skills in performing basic watch repairs, including battery replacements and strap adjustments. Experience in developing and delivering training programs. Strong attention to detail and a passion for luxury timepieces. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to support and collaborate with multiple locations. Proficiency in inventory management systems is a plus.
