Must be able to travel for customer visits. Overview Responsible for assisting with repairing, testing and calibration of optical, mechanical and electronic assemblies and instruments returned from the field with guidance. The Service Technician is also responsible for performing multiple aspects of Customer Service. Those may include by are not limited to; field travel, participating in some training of other Service Team members / field personnel / distributor service engineers, troubleshooting and addressing a full range of technical problems, and assisting with other tasks as requested. Professional Qualifications Education Associates Degree in electronics or technical/mechanical related degree preferred. Experience Minimum of 2-years of experience preferred in a manufacturing environment with demonstration of proficiency at performing all technical and diagnostic Job Functions of a Service Technician. Direct customer service interaction required. Experience assisting with and demonstrating capability in performing most of the Job Functions listed below. Position Responsibilities Specific Phone/Email/Fax support for internal and external customers (Support, Distributors, Subsidiaries, field personnel) Plan service activities with field team, customers and distributors Perform field customer service, may require domestic or international travel 10 - 40% Assist with service parts inventory. Perform RMA processing and shipments of service parts. Assist with Service Training courses for Distributors, Subsidiaries, and service personnel (may require domestic or international travel). Assist with design/development of Instrument Field Service Manuals and Procedures. Troubleshoot/resolve field service technical issues with field personnel and/or customers. Assist with performing investigation and generation of viable options for solutions to emerging technical problems. Collaboration with members of other departments, particularly Engineering and Assembly. Assist with input and proposed solutions to Engineering regarding resolution of software and hardware problems. Involvement with Engineering in New Product Development, to help understand hardware/software requirements (from a Service and/or Manufacturability perspective). Assist Manager in coordinating with other departments to achieve common objectives. Assist Manager with coordinating execution of team priorities and objectives. General Maintain all appropriate written and electronic records related to Specific Job Functions listed above. Good attention to detail and responsible to see that tasks are carried through to completion. Interact with others in a friendly, cooperative, and respectful manner. Be accepting of Rush orders and tasks. Must be dependable and have good attendance. Must have presentable and respectful direct customer facing presents. Ability to meet the Physical Requirements of the position. Excellent physical dexterity and motor skills to use tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment. Specific vision requirements include close vision and the ability to distinguish colors. Ability to comprehend and accurately follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to prioritize and perform tasks with limited guidance. Good general computer skills. Proficiency in using applications such as Word and Excel. Basic experience with CRM and ERP systems beneficial. Excellent communications (written, oral, and telephone), interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to teach, train and present technical information in varied situations; one-on-one to formal meetings with some autonomy. Availability during normal business hours is based on demand of customer interaction Enjoys and works well with people. Valid driver's license in good standing. Other job-related duties as assigned.
