Full Time On-Site and Wednesday -Saturday Position Summary:
Performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment, recycling equipment and light trucks, to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repairs to engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, and body components, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, suspensions systems, wheels and tires.Key Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Maintenance- Performs repairs and maintenance on electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles including light trucks, heavy equipment, and stationary equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
- Repairs or replaces components, such as Hydraulic cylinders, Pumps, gear boxes, and bearings using mechanic's hand tools.
- Performs preventive maintenance and equipment upgrades.
- Examines protective guards, loose belts, and specified safety devises on mobile and stationary equipment, also adjusting as needed. 2. Paperwork, Scheduling, and Record keeping.
- Reads and interprets equipment conditions reports and/or repairs orders, communicates with supervisor and/or operator for clarifications of problems. May discuss preventative techniques with operators to minimize future repairs.
- Complete paperwork associated with repairing equipment, documenting parts usage, and accounting for applied times (i.e. work order times versus timecard times.)
- Complete daily consumables report to record hours, fuel, and oil usage, and provides information for input to maintenance program.
- Follows schedules for repairs on equipment components, as required.
Physical Requirements:

There may be different experiences that suggest other ways or circumstances where reasonable changes or accommodations are appropriate.
- Ability to discern color sufficiently to interpret warning lights.
- Physical ability to properly lift up to 50 pounds, carry up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 40 pounds.
- Physical mobility to climb into and out of equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and operate hydraulic controls fully and effectively.
- Ability to tolerate confined spaces for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work safely in elevated areas. 4. Machines, Tools Equipment and Software used:
- Diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, technical manuals, laptops, and expertise.
- Personal Protective Equipment including dust mask, earplugs, gloves, hard hat, respirator, safety glasses, work boots, and safety vest.
- Hand tools including hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrenches, and other various tools.
- Vehicles including grinder, forklift, loader, backhoe, excavator, and parts truck.
- Machines including jacks/stands, wire feed welder, drill press, engine hoist, grinders, and other power tools. 5. Safety
- Immediately report all accidents to maintenance supervisor and/or operations manager
- Wear and maintain proper safety devices to insure protection from injury or illness.
- Report all unsafe conditions to the operations supervisor.
- Attend all safety meetings.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of electrical, power transmission, brake, and other automotive systems.
- Knowledgeable of and capable of performing repairs in an efficient, effective, and timely manner.
- Ability to safely drive the service truck to perform repairs.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related health and safety standards.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Preferred not required.
Working conditions:
- Risks associated with working around machines, tools, and heavy equipment.
- Exposure to chemicals, solvents, dust, fumes, or other waste.
- Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions.
