Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent, with a minimum of one year experience in institutional cleaning. Demonstrates a good knowledge of housekeeping and the guidelines for infectious waste. Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards. Is directly responsible for cleaning of all Operating Suites. Follows established housekeeping guidelines. Maintains Surgery Corridor, Instrument Processing Room and Sterilization Room, following accepted guidelines. Responsible for handling of all trash in the sterile area. Will bag in appropriate bags and follow established guidelines for infectious waste. Follows proper procedures regarding exposure to Category I tasks. Follows proper procedures for handling hazardous waste materials. Responsible for all linen in the Operating Room area, both dirty and clean. Ability to follow written or oral instructions. Ability to work well with others and to present a neat appearance and pleasant manner. Takes on additional duties as asked by the Operating Room Supervisor. Responsible for requesting housekeeping supplies from the Purchasing Coordinator. Stocks and maintains scrub sinks. Informs Operating Room Supervisor of any noted malfunctions of equipment. Assists in stocking supplies from Store Room to Supply Room.

The employee must be able to life and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis. The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
