Position Purpose On both a scheduled work order basis and in response to emergencies, performs maintenance and repair to Dartmouth College academic and administration buildings, structures, and related fixtures and utilities, using a variety of trade practices associated with carpentry, painting and related trades. Works independently, or under general supervision.
The Building Repair Technician II is an intermediate level position. The Building Repair Tech II will develop a specified level of skill and proficiency in the execution of duties related to general maintenance and repair at Dartmouth College. Description Required Qualifications Education and Yrs Exp 3 years of experience
Required Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Two to six years of relevant experience in carpentry, painting and related trades.
Valid driver's license and ability to be qualified under the terms of the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle policy.
Mechanically inclined, able to measure and cut material to specified dimensions.
Ability to read and understand building plans and sketches.
Ability to use a variety of hand tools including screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, wrenches, socket wrenches, tape measures, level.
Ability to use a variety of power tools including but not limited to drills, hammer drill, saws, sanders, planer.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently under minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and applying strong problemsolving skills.
Strong customer service skills and good communications skills; ability to communicate work to be performed with college employees and building occupants.
Elementary computer skills including basic word processing, email, spreadsheets, smartphones or tablets.
Ability to document and record issues and procedures.
Ability to perform demanding physical activity, work at heights and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity under physically difficult and/or strenuous conditions.
Must be capable of participating in the College's respiratory protection program and capable of responding to alarms including potentially hazardous environments.
Willingness to work overtime when required. Must have successfully completed the following training prior to performing work to which the training relates:
Driver Safety Electrical Safety related work practices
Lockout/tagout
Respirator training
Fall Protection
Working in confined spaces
Laboratory safety/hazardous waste management training
Asbestos awareness training
Bloodborne pathogen training
EPA R.R.P.
