Job Description

Hiring a Service Technician 1st shift, Direct Placement, pay up to 33/hr based on experience Job Description The Field Service Technician installs, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains fertilizer handling equipment, including blenders, mixers, bucket elevators, conveyors, rotary drums, and related components. This role works primarily at customer sites, ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably in demanding agricultural and industrial environments. The position involves frequent travel, hands-on mechanical and welding work, and detailed inspection and maintenance activities. Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and operational issues on fertilizer equipment such as drag conveyors, elevator legs, blenders, valves, floor and tower components, and related systems. Adjust, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation in the field. Operate and inspect equipment at customer locations to identify problems, excessive wear, and potential failures. Examine equipment for damage, excessive wear, and misalignment, and determine appropriate repair methods. Troubleshoot and repair air systems associated with fertilizer handling equipment. Perform MIG welding on broken or worn parts to restore equipment functionality and structural integrity. Test equipment after repairs or adjustments to verify proper operation and performance. Clean, lubricate, and perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical components and systems. Document all service activities by logging and maintaining accurate equipment service records. Travel to customer sites, primarily agricultural co-ops and farm locations, to perform on-site service and support. Operate a company vehicle safely and in compliance with all applicable regulations while traveling to and from job sites. Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate tools and equipment when working at heights, on ladders, or in elevated areas. Lift, move, and position parts and equipment as needed to complete repairs and maintenance tasks. Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding equipment status, required repairs, and recommended maintenance. Perform other related duties as assigned to support field service operations. Essential Skills Proven welding experience, including MIG welding, for repair of mechanical components. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience working with industrial or agricultural equipment. Experience with maintenance, repair, and inspection of conveyors, bucket elevators, and related material handling equipment. Ability to travel a minimum of 60% of the time, with seasonal variation that may increase travel demands. Ability to perform work independently at customer locations with minimal supervision. Capability to operate a company vehicle and maintain a clean driving record. Ability to meet all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, including passing a DOT physical and participating in annual and random drug testing, as required. Comfort working at heights and the ability to climb stairs and ladders to access elevated work areas. Physical ability to stand, walk, and use hands frequently to handle tools, parts, and equipment. Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. Capacity to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when required to access equipment and components. Strong visual acuity, including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Effective verbal communication skills to interact with customers and team members. Ability to work safely in environments with moderate noise levels and active industrial equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a maintenance technician or field service technician in an industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing setting. Conveyor maintenance and mechanical inspection. Familiarity with routine preventive maintenance practices for rotating and material handling equipment. Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns. Ability to maintain organized and accurate service records and documentation. Self-motivated approach with strong problem-solving skills in the field. Comfort using basic hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment in a variety of environments. Why Work Here? Work is performed at customer sites around fertilizer handling equipment, which may involve climbing stairs and ladders and working at heights.
