Job Description
Performs manual labor and semi-skilled tasks, including the regular operation of mowing equipment, required for the maintenance and management of city parks, open spaces, right-of-ways and facilities. Duties include mowing grass and clearing foliage, cleaning park grounds (e.g., playgrounds, pavilions, sports fields) and general operation, maintenance and repair of park facilities and equipment. Maintains plants, mows, propagates, cultivates, fertilizes and/or trims grass, trees, flowers, shrubs, and brush, including use of various light equipment and hand tools; Clears fallen limbs and foliage from park areas. Maintains park equipment and facilities; Assists with minor plumbing repairs including irrigation lines, heads and control valves in parks and at city facilities and assists with minor electrical repairs. Operates necessary vehicles and tools including pickup truck, chainsaw, carpentry tools, garden implements, mowers and tractors. Assists with cleaning, organizing, and inventory control of service areas, equipment and supplies; assists in preparation and facilitation of events. Operates various small equipment and large vehicles. Maintains vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Performs routine maintenance to equipment on a daily basis. Identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair. Notifies supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority. Follows departmental policies and procedures. Reports City code violations to supervisor. May be required to work on a twenty-four (24) hour stand-by on call basis. Performs other related duties as assigned Knowledge of basic landscaping High School diploma or GED, Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License with good driving record. Three years of general maintenance experience.
