Overview The Public Works Technician II

• Vegetation objective is to maintain and mow the City's right-of-way and drainage ditches.

The function of this position is to operate various types of machinery such as: Trucks, Slope Mowers, Batwings Mowing Tractors, Flats Mowing Tractors, Zero Turns Mowers, operating weed-eaters, and chain saws. The technician will use brooms, shovels, picks, lopping shears, rakes, and pole saws to ensure tasks are completed Responsibilities Mows City Drainage Rights-of-way and obey all local and State traffic laws, following all City Policies Performs daily vehicle inspections which consist of checking fluids, tires, wipers, lights, lock nuts on blades, safety equipment, etc. Picks up all trash along the street and ditch right-of-way prior to mowing operations Uses mechanical grabbers and puts in trash bags, when truck is full, takes to dump Fills in all blanks on forms with requested information such as Daily vehicle inspection forms, Daily Mowing Logs, Work Order Forms, Employee statements, and leave request forms Follows the TxDot traffic control standards as per the TEEX Work Zone Traffic Control Guide Provides entry-level assistance to mowing crews by general understanding of OSHA regulations and safety issues, basic knowledge of hazards of construction trades, ability to use M.S.D.S. sheets Understands movement around mowing zones with knowledge of the areas Works with hand and power tools, operates tools and equipment to maintain the R.O. W. and drainage system Operates motorized equipment and weed eats around poles, signs, guardrails, inlets, electrical boxes, cable towers, and along fences where needed Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Must be available to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

• High School Diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of experience Licenses and Certifications Required A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:
